Dupion Silk

The coarsely textured Dupion silk sarees are well known for the unique rustic finish. The raw texture is the result of blending of two silk yarns or the yarns reeled from entangled cocoons in the weft. The Dupion silk sarees are plain weaves of silk fabric with a special slub effect. The slub effect is a thick spot of yarn caused by the uneven thickness of the warp. These Dupion silk weaves are similar to Jute silk in appearance and are slightly thick with plaid or striped pattern.
